Eupleres

Eupleres is a genus of two species of mongoose-like euplerid mammal native to Madagascar, known as falanoucs. It comprises the Eastern falanouc (Eupleres goudotii), which inhabits mesic forests in eastern Madagascar, and the Western falanouc (Eupleres major), which occupies xeric regions in the island's northwest. Both species are primarily terrestrial and feed mainly on invertebrates, and they are assessed on the IUCN Red List as Vulnerable and Endangered respectively.
