Erignathus

Erignathus is a monotypic genus of true seal, family Phocidae, containing the single species the bearded seal, also called the square-flipper seal, found in and near the Arctic Ocean. It is a medium-sized pinniped distinguished by conspicuous and abundant whiskers that curl elegantly when dry; the scientific name references Greek words for its heavy jaw.
