Arctogalidia

Arctogalidia is a monospecific genus of civet in the family Viverridae containing a single species, the small-toothed palm civet or three-striped palm civet (Arctogalidia trivirgata), found in dense forests from Northeast India through mainland Southeast Asia to Borneo, Sumatra and Java. It is blackish grey with three black longitudinal stripes on the back, measures about 53 centimeters in body length with a 58 centimeter tubular, light and fluffy tail, and weighs about 2.4 kilograms. It is solitary, arboreal and nocturnal, with an omnivorous diet of insects, small mammals, birds, fruit, frogs and lizards, and its genus name means bear-weasel from ancient Greek.
