Viverricula

Viverricula is a genus of civet in the family Viverridae containing a single living species, the small Indian civet (Viverricula indica), native to South and Southeast Asia. It has brownish grey to pale yellowish brown fur with several longitudinal black or brown bands on the back, measures 53 to 58 centimeters from head to body with a 38 to 43 centimeter tapering tail ringed in black and white, and ranges across most of India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, south and central China and Taiwan in habitats from grassland to forest. It is listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List because of its wide distribution, habitat flexibility and healthy populations in agricultural and secondary landscapes.
