Mus

Mus is a genus of muroid rodents, family Muridae, subfamily Murinae, known as typical mice and comprising the only members of the tribe Murini, organized into several subgenera including Coelomys, Mus, Muriculus, Nannomys and Pyromys, with a temporal range extending from the Middle Miocene, roughly 15 million years ago, to the present. Species are distributed across Asia, Africa and Europe depending on subgenus. The best-known member is the house mouse, Mus musculus, the genus type species.
