Ursus

Ursus is a genus of bears comprising four living species, the American black bear, brown bear, polar bear and Asian black bear, plus several species known only from fossils. Members are solitary, sexually dimorphic mammals with a wide geographic range spanning North America, Europe, Russia, Central Asia, China and the Indian subcontinent, and the genus fossil record extends back more than five million years to the Pliocene.
