Common beisa oryx

The common beisa oryx, also called the beisa oryx, is the nominate subspecies of the East African oryx, native to the Horn of Africa and Kenya, and is closely related to the fringe-eared oryx. It is a compact, muscular antelope with a long body and broad neck, distinguished among oryx by fringed ears and black tufts of hair extending past the ears, with little difference between males and females. It feeds on a variety of grasses during the day, when plants hold the most water, and turns to the poisonous Adenium plant during the dry season.
