The European pine marten is a mustelid native to and widespread across most of Europe, Asia Minor, the Caucasus, and parts of Iran, Iraq and Syria. Also called simply the pine marten, or less commonly the baum marten or sweet marten, it is assessed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.
