The Sunda clouded leopard is a medium sized wild cat native to Borneo and Sumatra. It has been listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List since 2015, as its total effective population likely numbers fewer than 10,000 mature individuals with a decreasing trend, and it is threatened on both islands by deforestation. A 2006 study found it to be a separate species from its close relative, the clouded leopard of mainland Southeast Asia; its fur is darker with a smaller cloud pattern.
