Tiger

The tiger is the largest living cat species, native to Asia, recognized by its coat of orange fur with black vertical stripes over a white underside, a pattern unique to each individual. Tigers are solitary, territorial predators that hunt mainly large ungulates such as deer and wild boar, using stealth and a powerful ambush attack rather than sustained pursuit. Historically found across most of Asia, wild tiger populations have fallen sharply over the past century due to habitat loss and poaching, and the species is now classified as endangered, surviving mainly in fragmented protected areas across India, Southeast Asia, China and the Russian Far East, with several subspecies already extinct.
