The great scallop, also called the king scallop, St James shell, or escallop, is a species of scallop native to the northeast Atlantic, an edible saltwater clam in the family Pectinidae and the type species of its genus. It may be conspecific with Pecten jacobaeus, the pilgrims scallop, which has a much more restricted distribution.
