Apitoxin, also known as bee venom, is the venom produced by the honey bee. It is a colorless, bitter, cytotoxic and hemotoxic liquid containing proteins that can cause local inflammation when a bee stings, and it has been noted to bear some similarity to the toxin of the sea nettle.
