Belt of Venus

Geological and Atmospheric Phenomena

The Belt of Venus, also called Venus Girdle, the antitwilight arch, or antitwilight, is an atmospheric phenomenon visible for a short time before dawn or after dusk, during twilight. It appears as a pinkish glow that surrounds the observer, extending roughly 10 to 20 degrees above the horizon, opposite to and reflecting the afterglow on the other side of the sky.
