Oceanic dispersal

Ecological Processes

Oceanic dispersal is a type of biological dispersal in which land dwelling organisms move from one landmass to another by crossing open sea. It most often happens aboard large rafts of floating vegetation, which can carry animals across the water, while plants may also colonize distant land by way of floating seeds carried long distances by ocean currents.
