All Reef Coral Genera

Reef coral genera are the genera of the stony corals, the Scleractinia, whose colonial members from modern tropical seas are the world's primary reef formers, each colony being many polyps cemented together by the calcium carbonate they secrete. In the family Acroporidae, GBIF lists its genera led by Acropora with about 306 descendant taxa and Montipora with about 173, followed by Astreopora with about 60, Alveopora with about 40 and Isopora with about 10. In the Poritidae the leaders are Porites with about 238 and Goniopora with about 97.
