Deinococcus-Thermus is a phylum of bacteria noted for extreme resistance to environmental stress, including ionizing radiation, desiccation, and high temperature. Its best known member, Deinococcus radiodurans, is among the most radiation-resistant organisms ever identified, able to survive doses of radiation that would be lethal to nearly all other life.
