Sapindaceae, commonly known as the soapberry family, is a family of flowering plants in the order Sapindales comprising 138 genera and 1,858 accepted species found in temperate to tropical regions worldwide, with many species in laurel forest habitats. Many members are laticiferous, containing a milky latex sap, and contain mildly toxic saponins. The family includes horse chestnut, maple, ackee, and lychee, with Acer, the maple genus, among its largest.
