Henkel's Leaf-tailed Gecko

Henkel's leaf-tailed gecko, also called Henkel's flat-tailed gecko or the frilled leaf-tail gecko, is a lizard endemic to Madagascar, found in primary forest on the island of Nosy Be and on the mainland in the region of Ankarafantsika. It reaches a total length of about 280 millimeters, among the largest in its genus, and exists in two color forms, a Nosy Be form and a mainland form, distinguished by their patterning. It is arboreal, descending to the ground only to lay eggs in soil and leaf litter, and is classified as Vulnerable, threatened by habitat destruction and collection for the pet trade.
