The hickory tussock moth, also called the hickory tiger moth or hickory halisidota, is a moth in the family Erebidae and the tiger moth tribe Arctiini. It is widely distributed across the eastern half of North America. Unlike some related species whose caterpillars carry chemical defenses acquired from host plants, no venom has been isolated or identified in this species, and reported adverse reactions are characterized as irritant contact dermatitis rather than true venom effects.
