The Asian long-horned beetle, also called the starry sky beetle, is native to the Korean Peninsula and northern and southern China, with a disputed native range possibly reaching northern Japan. Accidentally introduced to the eastern United States, where it was first found in 1996, as well as Canada and several European countries including Austria, France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom, it has become a serious invasive pest of hardwood trees.
