Aurelia Aurita

Aurelia aurita, also called the common jellyfish, moon jellyfish, moon jelly, northern moon jelly, or saucer jelly, is a species of true jellyfish and the type species of its genus, in the family Ulmaridae. It is almost entirely translucent, usually 25 to 40 centimeters in diameter, with four horseshoe-shaped gonads easily visible through the top of the bell, and its sting has minimal effect on humans. Once considered a cosmopolitan species, it has since been split into at least 28 distinct species, with true A. aurita now known from the northeastern Atlantic Ocean, including the Baltic Sea where the original specimen was collected, the northeastern United States, and Argentina.
