The Australian swiftlet is a small bird in the genus Aerodramus in the swift family, Apodidae, endemic to Queensland in northeastern Australia. It was formerly included within the white-rumped swiftlet but is now commonly treated as a separate species, and it has two subspecies, A. t. terraereginae and A. t. chillagoensis, which are occasionally regarded as separate species themselves.
