The Bali chambered nautilus, also called the Indonesian nautilus, is a proposed species of nautilus native to the waters around Bali, Indonesia, and nearby Papua New Guinea, living on coastal reefs at depths of about 100 to 600 meters. Its coiled shell reaches about 180 millimeters across and shows a highly distinctive ribbing pattern unique among living chambered cephalopods, with females noticeably smaller than males. It is one of only two species in the genus Allonautilus and the least studied of the recognized nautilus species, known mainly from drifted shells rather than live specimens, and its shells are traded commercially in Balinese markets.
