Black-billed cuckoo

The black-billed cuckoo is a New World species in the cuckoo family, breeding across much of the eastern United States and southern Canada east of the Rocky Mountains and wintering in northwestern South America. Adults have a long, graduated brown tail, a black, slightly downcurved bill, white underparts contrasting with brown upperparts, and a narrow red ring around the eye; juveniles are duller with yellow eye rings. It favors deciduous and mixed forests, shrubby areas and wetlands, and although its IUCN status is Least Concern its populations are declining.
