Acacia mearnsii, commonly known as black wattle, late black wattle or green wattle, is a flowering tree endemic to southeastern Australia, typically growing erect with smooth bark, bipinnate leaves and spherical heads of fragrant pale yellow or cream flowers followed by black to reddish brown seed pods. Grown commercially in parts of the world, including as the most important tannin-producing tree in southern Africa, it is regarded as an invasive species in some of the regions where it has been introduced.
