Blastomyces is a genus of fungi in the order Onygenales whose species are known human pathogens, showing thermal dimorphism by converting from a hyphal state under saprobic conditions to a yeast-like state under pathogenic conditions. They are the causative agents of blastomycosis, a systemic fungal infection that is most serious in immunocompromised patients.
