Canada goose

The Canada goose, Branta canadensis, is a large goose in the waterfowl family Anatidae, native to the Arctic and temperate regions of North America. It is marked by a black head and neck, white cheeks and chin patch, and a brown body, measuring 75 to 110 centimeters long with a wingspan of 127 to 185 centimeters; males weigh 2.6 to 6.5 kilograms and females slightly less. The species is strongly migratory, flying in the well-known V-shaped formation, with autumn migration running from September into early November, and it has also been introduced to France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Scandinavia, New Zealand, Japan, Chile, Argentina and the Falkland Islands. The IUCN lists it as Least Concern, though its adaptability to human environments has made it a pest in some places because of its droppings, crop damage, noise and territorial aggression.
