Coenobita scaevola

Coenobita scaevola is a species of terrestrial hermit crab from the western Indian Ocean and Red Sea, found around the Gulf of Aden and the coasts of Somalia and Pakistan, and is the only terrestrial hermit crab species in the Red Sea, where it can endure the harsh, dry conditions of the Sinai Peninsula while staying near shorelines for water. It shelters in burrows or coastal vegetation during the day and forages at night, has more zoeal larval stages than other Coenobita species at seven, lasting 54 to 80 days, and breeds during the warmest months when temperatures reach 24 to 38 degrees Celsius, with juveniles occupying small Planaxis sulcatus shells and adults moving into larger Turbo radiatus shells.
