Marchantia polymorpha, commonly known as the common liverwort or umbrella liverwort, is a species of large thalloid liverwort found worldwide, highly variable in appearance and encompassing several subspecies. It is dioicous, meaning separate plants bear male and female reproductive structures rather than both together.
