Lunularia is a genus of liverworts whose only species is Lunularia cruciata, the crescent-cup liverwort. The genus is sometimes placed in its own order, Lunulariales, or classified within Marchantiales depending on the taxonomic scheme used. Its name comes from the Latin luna, meaning moon, for the distinctive moon-shaped gemma cups it bears, crescent-shaped structures holding disc-like reproductive bodies not found in other thalloid liverworts.
