Common Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea)

Common Foxglove is a toxic species of flowering plant in the plantain family Plantaginaceae, native to and widespread across most of temperate Europe and naturalized in parts of North America and other temperate regions. It is a popular garden plant with many cultivars and the original source of the heart medicine digoxin; it is biennial, growing as a rosette of leaves in its first year before flowering and dying in its second, generally self-seeding enough to persist in a garden setting.
