The dunnock (Prunella modularis) is a small passerine bird found throughout temperate Europe and into Asian Russia, and has been introduced to New Zealand, where it is now common. It is the most widespread member of the accentor family, whose other members are typically restricted to mountain habitats, and has been known historically by names including hedge accentor, hedge sparrow and hedge warbler. It is assessed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
