Eurasian blue tit

The Eurasian blue tit is a small passerine of the tit family Paridae, easily identified by its blue and yellow plumage and small size. It lives in deciduous and mixed woodland, especially where oak is common, across temperate and subarctic Europe and western Asia, is largely non-migratory, and readily takes to nest boxes. It forages acrobatically, gripping the outermost branches of trees and shrubs and hanging upside down while hunting mainly insects and spiders, supplemented by plant food outside the breeding season. Europe holds an estimated 20 to 44 million breeding pairs, and the population grew by about 30 percent between 1980 and 2016, supporting its Least Concern status.
