Eurasian bullfinch

The Eurasian bullfinch, also called the common bullfinch, is a small passerine bird in the finch family Fringillidae, and is the original bird to bear the name bullfinch in Anglophone Europe. It breeds across Europe and temperate Asia and is mainly resident, though many northern birds migrate further south in winter. It is a bulky, bull-headed bird with a short thick bill, grey upperparts, a black cap and black flight feathers, and a striking white rump and wing bars visible in flight; males have a distinctive rich red chest and underparts, while females and young birds have grey-buff feathers instead. The IUCN lists it as Least Concern.
