Feather duster worms, or Sabellidae, are a family of marine polychaete tube worms characterized by protruding, feathery branchiae. They build tubes out of a tough, parchment-like material strengthened with sand and bits of shell, except for the genus Glomerula, which secretes a tube of calcium carbonate instead, and they are found in subtidal habitats around the world, with their oldest fossils known from the Early Jurassic.
