Comatulida is an order of crinoids whose members, known as feather stars, mostly lack a stalk as adults. The oral surface bearing the mouth faces upward and is surrounded by five, often further-divided rays lined with feathery pinnules. Feather stars live on the seabed and on reefs in tropical and temperate waters.
