Forked Veilwort

Forked veilwort, Metzgeria furcata, is a liverwort of the family Metzgeriaceae with a slim, translucent, ribbon-like thallus about a millimeter wide that forms yellow-green mats and repeatedly forks at its growing tips, with a visible midrib running to the tip of each branch. It grows on the bark of a wide range of trees and shrubs and occasionally on rock, and is found throughout the British Isles, though less commonly in Ireland and parts of the Scottish Highlands, as well as on Scilly, Shetland, Orkney and the Isle of Man.
