Tulipa gesneriana, also called Didier's tulip or the garden tulip, is a species of plant in the lily family cultivated as an ornamental across many countries for its large, showy flowers. A tall, late-blooming species with a single flower per stem and linear to broadly lance-shaped leaves, it is a complex hybridized species from which most modern tulip cultivars are derived, and it has become naturalized in parts of central and southern Europe and in scattered locations in North America.
