Giant Freshwater Stingray is a species of stingray in the family Dasyatidae found in large rivers and estuaries of Southeast Asia and Borneo, though it may historically have ranged more widely across South and Southeast Asia. It is the widest freshwater fish in the world, growing up to 2.2 meters across and exceeding 300 kilograms, with a thin oval pectoral fin disc widest toward the front, a sharply pointed snout and a thin whip-like tail lacking fin folds; it is uniformly grayish brown above and white below, with distinctive wide dark bands on the posterior margins of its pectoral and pelvic fins underneath.
