Hylotrupes bajulus, the sole species in the monotypic genus Hylotrupes, is a wood-boring beetle in the longhorn beetle family Cerambycidae. It is known by several common names, including the house longhorn beetle, the old house borer and the European house borer; in South Africa it is also called the Italian beetle because it was introduced there in packing cases originating from Italy. Hylotrupes is the only genus in the beetle tribe Hylotrupini.
