Knight Anole

The knight anole (Anolis equestris) is the largest species of anole, native to Cuba and introduced to South Florida, where it has become established in tree canopies of forests, mangroves, and gardens. It is bright green with a yellow stripe along the side of the head and another at the shoulder, and displays a pinkish-white dewlap; adults commonly reach 33 to 51 centimeters in total length. It is a diurnal, aggressively territorial species that signals with head-bobbing and dewlap displays, and it eats mostly invertebrates as well as fruit and occasionally small vertebrates. The IUCN assesses it as Least Concern.
