Lacewing

Green lacewings are insects of the family Chrysopidae within the order Neuroptera, a large and widespread group of about 85 genera and between 1,300 and 2,000 species. The genera Chrysopa and Chrysoperla are especially common across North America and Europe, and the two are similar enough that many species have been reassigned between them repeatedly as classification has been revised. Because green lacewings are the most familiar neuropterans to most people, they are often simply called lacewings in everyday use, even though other families belong to the same order.
