Malassezia is a genus of yeasts naturally found on the skin of most warm-blooded animals, including humans, where it is normally a harmless part of the skin's microbial community. Under certain conditions, however, species of Malassezia are linked to skin conditions including dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis and a discoloring skin condition called pityriasis versicolor.
