Apple is the round, edible fruit of the domestic apple tree, the most widely grown tree in the genus Malus and cultivated worldwide. The tree originated in Central Asia, where its wild ancestor, Malus sieversii, is still found; it was grown for thousands of years in Eurasia before European colonists introduced it to North America, and it carries cultural significance in many mythologies and religions.
