Mexican Beaded Lizard

Mexican Beaded Lizard is a venomous lizard native to Mexico and southern Guatemala, found in desert, tropical deciduous forest and thorn scrub habitat along the Pacific and Atlantic drainages. Adults range from 57 to 91 centimeters long, considerably larger than the related Gila monster, and are covered in beadlike scales underlaid with bony structures; it hunts reptile and bird eggs, and some compounds in its venom have been studied for pharmacological properties useful in treating diabetes.
