The Mexican tetra, also known as the blind cave fish, blind cave characin or blind cave tetra, is a species of freshwater ray finned fish in the family Acestrorhamphidae, the American characins. It is found in the lower Rio Grande and in the Nueces and Pecos Rivers of Texas, as well as across the central plateau and eastern states of Mexico.
