Mudskipper

Mudskippers are amphibious fish of the goby family Oxudercidae, able to survive for extended periods out of water in the muddy intertidal habitats of the Indo-Pacific and West Africa. They breathe partly through their skin and the moist lining of their mouth and throat while out of water, and use muscular pectoral fins to crawl, hop, and even climb over mud and mangrove roots. Male mudskippers perform visible territorial and courtship displays, including leaping and fin-raising, on exposed mudflats at low tide.
