Araucaria heterophylla, the Norfolk Island pine or Norfolk pine, is a species of conifer in the family Podocarpaceae endemic to Norfolk Island, an external territory of Australia in the Pacific Ocean between New Zealand and New Caledonia. Despite its common names it is not a true pine, which belong to the family Pinaceae, and it is also called star pine, Polynesian pine, triangle tree or living Christmas tree for the symmetrical shape it has as a sapling.
