Periophthalmus Barbarus

The Atlantic mudskipper is a species of mudskipper fish native to fresh, marine and brackish waters along the tropical Atlantic coasts of Africa, reaching up to 25 centimeters in length. Its eyes sit on top of its head for wide vision, and its pectoral and pelvic fins let it skip, crawl and climb on land as well as swim in water. It lives on tidal flats and in mangrove forests, hunting other animals with a specialized hydrodynamic tongue that uses water suction to catch prey. It can live up to 15 years, is rated least concern for conservation, and is used by people for food, bait and traditional medicine.
