Porcelain crabs are decapod crustaceans in the family Porcellanidae, which superficially resemble true crabs despite not being one. They have flattened bodies adapted for living in rock crevices, are delicate and readily lose limbs when attacked, and use their large claws mainly to maintain territories. The family first appeared in the Tithonian age of the Late Jurassic epoch, roughly 145 to 152 million years ago.
